The leveling system is designed so you have all the tools no matter what you do but specializing adds secondary effects like for example the whirl for swordsmanship or shield in magic reflecting damage next to protecting you. Also each tree has a specialty skill as the second to last talent. For swordsmanship it’s a group finisher move (single finisher against monsters). Magic skill creates a large area where enemies are slowed by a lot. Alchemy skill increases your damage by 300% for 30 seconds. I think you should stick to swordsmanship.

I don’t get why people get lost in Vergen so much, sure its confusing at first but after about 10 min wandering around you get a pretty good feeling for the place. Also its full of shortcuts, so the travel times are actually shorter as in Flotsam and outskirts, as long as you invest a little time in memorizing them. IMO thats how it should be, invest time learning the layout, get around faster. Don’t do that and you have fun walking aroung and getting lost. Maybe its just me playing basically only RPGs but I didn’t have a problem with Vergen, I’ve seen much worse. It’s just funny that in every RPG its the dwarven town that is the most confusing.

I think it may be a bit harder on XBox, since there are more doors and closed areas, so you can’t run straight through to everywhere. Though what Fraser hasn’t mastered yet is the fact that the town is built in layers to a cliffside, so he keeps trying a level too low or high, and gets frustrated.

Yeah that could contibute to the confusion. But like I said even with the loading/streaming doors, the place has a pretty logical layout after you get your head around it. But I don’t blame Fraser for getting lost, he isn’t a RPG buff after all. What I DO blame him for is the fact that he missed Phillippas house for so long, and bitched about the quest marker, which clearly was EXACTLY above the door he had to take. The Frage was delicious tough.

The big creature in Vergen’s mine is not a troll, but a bullvore. They are the largest type of necrophage around. I think it uses troll animations, but it’s pretty clearly a different type of creature, with extra vestigal limbs on its chest, and big horns on its head.

The popular demand demands Minecraft ! :(
Seriously through … I want to play through Mass Effects and Witchers myself (since you tend to skip dialogues and quests in Mass Effect and I am a huge fan of Sapkowski’s work and you don’t seem to know anything about Geralt, the White Wolf of Rivia, my head hurts from facepalming all the time)
Also, where the **** is the fifth bonus Phoenix Wright episode? >:-(

The only complaint about the map in this game that I have is that the minimap rotates, and it confused the shit out of me at the begining. Oh, and I don’t like that EVERYTHING in the game is a glitch. I mean from people without trousers to glowing sideqest stones and that You can’t loot enemy corpses while in battle? Seriously game… seriously? ;) *wink

Incidentally, if you guys want to get the full picture on the Wild Hunt subplot, which relates pretty closely with Geralt’s lost memory, I suggest that you return to the catacombs and search for a book there, and take it to Cynthia, Philippa Eilhart’s assistant (among other duties). That gives you a better understanding of what the Wild Hunt is, or is believed to be, and gives you a quest-marker for Chapter 3 that leads you to the tracks of a pretty good silver sword. But you must do it before searching for Triss from beyond the wraithmist, or Cynthia will have left for other business for good.

… if that is a DWARF town..
why are all the doors so tall?

I can’t believe that I didn’t mention this before, I wasn’t watching at that point in the original stream, and I looked a bit harder only just now. Namely, you guys COMPLETELY missed the point of Letho’s dream in that harpy stone, and a MAJOR plot-point with it:
Síle de Tanserville, the sorceress who helped you fight the Kayran in the first chapter, hired Letho and his men to kill King Demavend (the king from the opening intro). This WILL come up later as an extremely important plot-point, and you’ll be very confused when it does…
