Well, if the people hate Fraser, the way he plays and the games he does and are still watching the show, obviously they really love Becky and Ben. You two should dump Fraser and make your own show just sitting on the couch, the viewer count will go through the roof ;-)
Though I do agree with you, this game is extremely repetitive. However, I do think you should at least either watch the rest of the story on YouTube OR just play the final mission to understand the story better because it IS worth watching for the sake of story.
Sooo…why didn’t Ben start palying instead of Fraser? He likes the series, already played it and you guys want to get the full story before going to the second game. I don’t really get that…
As host of the show, Fraser feels like he has to be the one playing the game if it’s a one player game or something. At least, that’s what I’ve heard him say. :d
I’ve been waiting forever for you guys to play Assassin’s Creed, but seriously: If Fraser is that bad at killing people stealthily, I don’t know if playing any of the other Assassin’s Creed games is such a good idea. ^^ Granted, the gameplay gets much better in AC2, but you’ll still have to be patient and wait for the right time to kill the target. Some major story missions in later AC games even require killing the target and getting away undetected.
Fraging about beggars and crazies doesn’t help either. Ubisoft put these people in the game for a reason – and it seems to work just fine in Fraser’s case.
The problem with skipping AC1 is, that all games (AC, AC2, Brotherhood, Revelations and AC3) have one ongoing story ark. So it’s kinda like skipping Mass Effect and playing Mass Effect 2 and 3 – or watching “The Two Towers” and “Return of the King” without having seen “The Fellowship of the Ring”. So if you really have to skip ahead (which I hope you don’t, because – let’s face it – you could use the practice), then at least make sure you watch a good synopsis.
I also skipped through the whole game but can you tell me what important things he’ll miss? I know about scanning the room but what else? Put some “AC1″ spoiler tags.
They won’t learn about the “Apple of Eden” (should be OK to name it, because the name itself doesn’t give away what it is or does – and if they watch a synopsis it will be explained anyway), which is basically the MacGuffin of the whole Assassin’s Creed Saga. It’s the reason why Assassins and Templars fight each other and why Desmond is being kept in that laboratory.
Oh gawd, I would laugh so much at a slideshow of Fraser being pushed around/being detected and then the ragequit :D
Thanks for trying the game anyway :P (voted against it though)
I don’t blame you Fraser, I had a hard time playing through the game too and you did the right thing by stop playing it. AC2 will be a lot more fun and interesting than AC1.
I remember playing this on the 360 when it first came out, dont remember it being such a pain in the ass though. I actually enjoyed playing it, but i can see how for the show it gets boring watching a horses ass for 45 minutes~! ^o^ It reminded me of Link riding around on Epona so I loved it! The AC series gets better though! The plot gets a bit convoluted but good all around!
Judging from the comments, I probably shouldn’t watch any more of this. (I just finished Part 12.) There’s getting frustrated with a game’s faults, and then there’s blaming your faults on the game. -_-
Anyone paying attention to shadow chat during this stream would know how much I defended Fraser for this. Sure he tends to get uber pissed about a lot of stuff but this time i can 100% understand it. AC1 was soooooo repetetive and sooooooo boring and I almost never could enjoy the series because of it. Later games are soooooooo much better but try telling that to someone who played the first game and hated every bit of it.
IGN made a 3 minute plot synopsis for AC1, that explains the important stuff you have to know for the later games much better than the beginning of AC2 does.
I certainly won’t have to mention that it contains massive spoilers, so consider yourselves warned.
It’s okay Frash Frash, I’m the same way with games…When I can’t do something or don’t like a mechanic, I’ll usually try and get revenge by yelling at the game.
I sympathize with Fraser here. I wanted to see the story of in this game, and I liked parts of it, but…this game’s repetitive, aggravating, and outright boring design made me so irritable by games end I couldn’t even truly enjoy the story hidden amongst the clutter.
Really, after hearing so many people praise this game, I’m just glad I’m not the only person it hits the berserk button on…
Machines Out.

But don’t worry; Assassin’s Creed 2 is a lot of fun.
