  1. I honestly expected there to be more trolling from Frasher this episode. Glad to see that it wasn’t so. Also, Becky’s reactions are gold, and Ben makes something bad happen in my pants when I see his outfit… O_O

  2. I love how lost they are. It’s like they aren’t used to a game that doesn’t explain itself right up front.

    • It’s not “like” they aren’t used to it. It’s that they ARE not used to it. Games these days really hold people’s hands and sometimes it’s hard going to back to older games. I’ve had this a few times myself.

…and yes Pyramid Head is raping those things. It doesn’t just look like it. If something in Silent Hill looks like a penis it most likely is supposed to look like a penis. All the monsters have some sort of symbolism. And you also have to remember that the people who go to Silent Hill are NEVER normal people.

      • I was noting at how dumbfounded and confused they seemed to be about the game. They couldn’t make out the “why” because there is no direct “why” (at least not at the point they are at). As you said, the game is layered with delicious symbolism.

Seeing Fraser’s stance on riddles, I sympathized with his view on it. Riddles are about looking for the answer using different perspective. Though not knowing the certain perspective can frustrate some people.

  3. Remember seeing this one live. And MAN Becky is scared easily. I mean, I thought she was just more vocal about it but she jumps out of her skin when something just pops up on screen, and she is in a room with all the lights on, bright lights I should add. Oh Becky…the strange nature of her.

  4. Hey, I remember being able to save wherever I want in PC version of this game. I just now realise how much easier it makes this game.

  5. Watching this kinda makes me want to see them play Fatal Frame.

  6. How is this game so revered? This has to be one of the worst videogames I’ve ever seen.

    • To each his own. But really? One of the ‘worst’ video games you’ve ever seen? I guess you don’t play too many video games. I mean yeah its clunky and confusing to a point but i wouldn’t say its the worst, especially if you give it a try for yourself and get engaged.

    • We havent really gotten very far into the game, and this game isnt revered for its gameplay, but its story and design. A lot of people assume that a good game has to have good gameplay, and that isnt entirely true. A good game connects to you, and makes you feel richer for the experience. In that regard this game does a pretty good job.

      • I can understand appreciating a game for its charm rather than its mechanics, (taken purely as a game, The Walking Dead barely even qualifies, but it’s still awesome for other reasons) but I don’t see anything charming about this game, either. To call it lame by-the-numbers horror would be too much of a compliment. It’s more like a pale imitation of lame by-the-numbers horror, complete with bad voice acting, a draw distance that can only be measured in nanometers, and some of the worst alleged puzzles I’ve seen foisted upon the gaming public.

        • The voice acting I can semi-agree with, though I think it has it’s charm. Part of the reason the voices are a bit weird, is because they didn’t hire voice actors for the most part, they hired people who they felt had similarities to the characters. The guy who played James never did voice work before or (I’m pretty sure) after SH2. Atleast it’s better than what they did with the new voices in the HD Collection. As for the draw distance, that comes from the fog in Silent Hill, which is a staple of the series. It has a good story reason for being there which I wont go into. Also, it’s an early PS2 game, cut it some slack : )
As for everything you else you said, I disagree completely, but you’re entitled to your opinion.

  7. I know the town has magic powers. But in the beginning she says that he promised he would take her back to Silent Hill . Why in all that is logic and righteous would you WANT to go back to that town?

I also love Fraser and his ranting on riddles. I do agree to a point but still mostly funny.

Also Ben is super snarfy smart. He had the puzzle figured out well before Becky or Fraser but he was humble and waited till they got it themselves. What a good sport ;-)

    • Silent Hill hasn’t always been the horrific hell hole it is now. It was a relatively normal town till the events of the first game happened. So whatever James and Mary did in Silent Hill was before the town went crazy.

  8. We need more riddles next episode!

  9. So… will you try Shattered Memories?

  10. That little screenshot they used for this episode cracks me up a little inside. Having the riddle difficulty on normal kinda seem to cause some problems for the show. And chat, please don’t talk about stuff that’s gonna happen way later on in the game.

  11. That is the best titlecard ever. <3

  12. This was an awesome episode, and am sad that I had to leave it live before Fraser’s rant on riddles. That part of the show is amazing!

  13. Always Shake the juice! xD

  14. Just got an image in my head. Video Games Lonesome, Becky Edition: Silent Hill 2 is AWESOME!
“I don’t like that music… ohh no, no no no no no… there’s a baddie… oh shit, shitty shit.. fuucKING SHIT WHAT THE FUCK BALLS HOLY FFFUCK!! …Jesus… I’m dead… What a dick, man. When did I save? …Do I have do that again?! Shit!”

Speaking of being scared, did you guys all watch Eraserhead? I remember Fraser mentioning it a while back. What did you think? Also, if you haven’t seen Mulholland Drive yet, that contains one of the scariest moments I’ve ever experienced in a film.

I wonder what Americans/Canadians think about the fact that Thanksgiving doesn’t exist in the rest of the world. I’ve never experienced that holiday or had a turkey dinner. (Although I doubt it would make a difference to me, since our big Christmas family get-together consists of three people eating poorly cooked vegetarian food with the TV on then leaving.)

  15. i loved this game hope you guys enjoy

  16. I love how I always fall asleep almost half way through the show…sucks during scary games though xD

  17. I saw the dead bring forth the living. I saw the living bring forth the dead. Who or what did I see?

  18. Nice show!

Personally, I was expecting it to be a little bit more scary… ^.^

    • The game isn’t scary like Amnesia, the horror really comes from it’s atmosphere and sound design (also the crazy psychological stuff), which doesn’t really come accross too well when you’re watching it being played. It needs to be played alone and in the dark.

  19. good show guys, do you plan on playing through the whole thing?

  20. I spend all day doing pretty much nothing and watch these shows when it’s dark outside. WHY THE FUCK DO I DO THAT?! I ought to be motivated more to watch them with sunlight when I won’t be too scared to go to the bathroom later.

  21. I HAD to watch it before bed…

  22. I was not expecting Friddle Frage. But I get where he’s coming from……that being said I have one:

You’re in a dark and cold room. The room has a fireplace, a lamp and a stove. You only have one match, what do you light first?

  23. Argh, Ben was whistling a song, a classical one, and now all i can think of is that stupid song, and i have no idea what it’s called.

  24. I love how the riddles, in this game particularly, brought everyone to a whole conversation at the end. It’s like family bonding. lol
That’s the show for ya folks! <3

  25. Couldn’t watch the game play…was too busy drooling over Ben’s legs.

  26. Uhg, I fell asleep while watching these videos, and I had a nightmare in which I was stuck in a colony of Pyramid Heads, and there were families of Pyramid Heads, like parents and kids, and a mother Pyramid Head started chasing me through scaffolding and damn it sucked a lot.

  27. Damn, that Clock puzzle is so damn obvious! I had it figured out when seeing the three names on the wall as a close up, even before they looked at the book or the clock face.
All the time I want to scream “Scars, guys! Scars!!!” ^^

  28. I remember when I played the first one, I was in about grade 9, and it scared the hell out of me. My German buddy came over and showed no fear whatsoever and plowed through the thing without flinching… Silent Hill 2 comes along, and another friend of mine refused to play it, he demanded he only use the guide to assist me when I got stuck, and that was all.

Fatal Frame is another freaky series. Yet another friend and I would play it at 3am and get all messed up.

  29. Hey Fraser, what’s green and has wheels?
