This is an EXTREMELY odd question, but since this IS ‘everything else’ I might as well try and ask:

When I have two foam rubber plates I want to connect permanently, what is the most reliable method to use?

a nail could slide out over time. Good start to the thinking, though.

EDIT: Keep in mind this connection WILL be STRESSED.

I’m going to use 6 foam plates as the base for a giant plush cube.

Do the plates need to be able to move? If not, craft stores carry special glue for that type of foam.

They need to retain some of their bend, up to 1/5th of their height.
Any idea what kind of glue this would be?

Grrrrr; can’t get ahold of any of my friends who do crafting like that. If it’s an actual crafting store (so not a WM or other mega store =P) you could ask the salespeople for advice? I’m not much help, I tend to go to google and wade through 50 or so articles to see which answer comes up the most often with the most sound logic. ^^
