I live in Texas, I play on a laptop, and my provider is AT&T. Needless to say, its difficult to play on the turbo server. Does anyone know of any tricks to make it smoother at least?
May 19, 2012 at 5:15 pm #31594what’s your average ping on the server?
May 19, 2012 at 6:05 pm #31612Usually about 70-90.

Usually about 70-90.that is decent ping for the server. the best I have seen is 30 – 60. bad ping is over 120.
The question is, are you lagging or do you seeing people lagging?
May 19, 2012 at 6:59 pm #31652I’m sorry to say there is no magic way to make your game instantaneously run lag-free given your situation. Some things I would recommend are lowering the graphics settings, id est, anti aliasing, weather effects etc. Also, sometimes the server can have a lag-attack, wherein which many players may be lagging. I haven’t experienced this much with the VGA server, (I can only think of one time where it was pronounced) so it may just be bad timing. Also also, like Otaku said is it you who is lagging or other people? Or both?
May 19, 2012 at 7:57 pm #31667i’d recommend setting your network settings to “cl_interp 0.05″ “cl_interp_ratio 1″ using the console
if you change them you should probably jot down what they were before, just in case i’m wrong. i’m not the best with network configuration. this won’t lower your ping, but it should help align your hitboxes to the character models.
May 19, 2012 at 8:35 pm #31684Ah how i wish i had your ping. Whenever I play, my ping can max out at over 500. My internet server provider is complete CRAP to say the least. Unfortunately, I have no real way to get a better provider either, because they are literally the only ones who service this area.
May 20, 2012 at 2:34 am #3173070-90? That’s actually pretty good ping. Some people have it over the hundreds constantly. I usually have it under 50, but sometimes for no reason whatsoever I get these lag spikes of over 800, and there goes my gaming experience for about half an hour. Honestly, unless it is hugely messing up your game to the point it’s unplayable (like having ping in the 1000′s), it should be okay.
May 20, 2012 at 4:14 am #31732As people mentioned, 70-90 is pretty darn good.
I have my ping at constant 150, but I can’t say it’s bad, heh.May 20, 2012 at 9:58 am #31780I lag very badly. When more than five people are on, its more like a slideshow than a game. I’ll see a picture every minute and it will loop a second on audio from whatever was happening then. I can’t even leave the game without ctrl+alt+del
May 20, 2012 at 10:46 am #31784What are the specs of your laptop? It doesn’t sound like ping is the problem.

And I’d like to know what you’re setting TF2 at along with your card.May 20, 2012 at 11:09 am #31789otakudan1988: that is decent ping for the server. the best I have seen is 30 – 60. bad ping is over 120.
I get like 10 though…
May 20, 2012 at 10:06 pm #31905I have a Toshiba Satelite, but there are plenty of servers that run just fine evem with a lot of people on.
