If he has a lot of quips like that ‘Small Knives’ sequence, I for one will be happy. So much better than Maguire’s “Did your mommy make it for you?” and “Here’s your Change!”.

Which i felt was MUCH more spidey’esque. The small knives was “funny” but, i felt like he was sorta being…idk…a jerk? I know they are bad guys…but his quips dont always sound…like…a bully? lol

Personally, I’m torn. It does look like it’s going to be pretty entertaining and I do think Garfield is going to make a much better Spiderman than Maguire, however I’m a bit disappointed that Marvel doesn’t have any claim to the film rights. The Amazing Spider-Man belongs to Sony and furthermore, Marvel isn’t involved in the production or distribution of the movie either.

So much for my early theory they were prepping Spidey for a potential spot in a future Avengers film.

Along with that, I’m just . . . optimistic, but cautiously so. Sure, Garfield is perfect as Spiderman. But as Peter Parker? He’s more emo/hipster than shy nerd (not that I have anything against emos or hipsters, seeing as I’m one of the latter) and it just feels like a step in the wrong direction. It doesn’t look like the slightly nerdy Parker learning responsibility in his goofy, sarcastic and witty way. Because of this and because of comparisons that will inevitably be made, the new Peter Parker seems to dark and brooding. I know you can only tell so much by a trailer, but it’s not painting a particularly pleasing picture. Especially given the accidental-spider-bite-that-unlocks-hitherto-unknown-genetic-tampering-done-by-his-father rather than just the accidental-spider-bite of the comics. So as awesome as Spidey seems and acts (I’ll admit, I loved the fight scenes shown), I’m worried.

I’m also not entirely sold on the costume change. The Avengers stayed true to the comics to an insane degree and I’ve yet to hear a complaint from the mainstream audience there, so I don’t understand why they’d make so many little changes when it’s clear no one would be upset with the original design. It’s mostly a nitpick, but I do like comics and I do like to see them treated . . . I don’t know if properly is the word, but I’ll go with it.

But at the end of the day, despite my personal issues with the film I do think it’ll be rather good. Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben’s just an amazing choice, Gwen Stacy replacing Mary Jane is a relief and despite the changes, seeing the Lizard on screen makes me very happy. I think I’ll come away from the film liking it as a film, but as an adaption I think I’ll wind up a little less impressed because I happen to be a massive nerd despite my dashing looks. ^_^

Totally forgot about Gwen Stacy being in it. I find it amusing that they found an actress that is known for being a redhead (probably not her natural) and have her play a blonde where as in the other spiderman movies they take a blonde and dye her red.

Looks really good and I love comic book movies. Especially since how good Iron Man, Dark Knight, Captain America and The Avengers were.

I think Bryce Dallas howard loooked WAAAY more like a Gwen Stacey then Emma stone… -__- But, Padre! I agree with you ALMOST 100%. lol. Minus the Garfield being a better Spidey…Maybe he will be? lol, but yeah Peter is EXACTLY what you said. =)

Spidey wasn’t really ever an Avenger in the comics though, was he? Spidey doesn’t really seem like the type of hero that would jump on the opportunity to work in a group. He’d probably rather try to do things by himself unless he knew he needed help.

After Avengers Disassembled a few years back, the Avengers turned into something like the Justice League. Spiderman and Wolverine where members. Since then the Team split up into different factions. I believe that Spiderman is still apart of the main team, along with being apart of one of the split off groups called New Avengers.
