Hi everyone. Welcome to the BWL Development Content Thread.

It is through this thread I hope to share some new content from my site. Though I’m not entirely sure what I will be posting yet, I suspect that this could be fun.

Since I just posted the third LPU tryout, I think I’ll kick this thread off with those three videos.
    ——————–

BWL Behind The Scenes: Wildcats LPU Tryout

The Wildcat, Syrus, and Tikchi the Ratman play Left 4 Dead 2.

This is my own try out for the LPU team… thus it is basically a practice with a demo for interested members on how the tryouts work.

We had a good time, but grew frustrated and tired toward the end. Still, we got some practice and had a chance to see how we would react to different situations as a team.

Basically, we made this video first such that I could go through the same thing I’m putting the tryout hopefuls through. We didn’t bargain for glitches.

    Music From:
    King Cobra – http://keycityproductions.bwldevelopment.com

BWL Behind The Scenes: SyrusRayne’s LPU Tryout

This is Syurs’s try out for the LPU team. We had a good time. Considerably more fun then the last one with the unbalanced campaign at the conclusion.

Syrus is one of my admins and we made this video for the same reason we made my video.

BWL Behind the Scenes: Tikchi’s Tryout

This is Tikchi’s try out for the LPU team. We had a good time… more or less. This was easily the sloppiest tryout that we have tried. Basically, glitches and other matters plagued us all weekend.

Tikchi is one of Syrus’ friends that he invited to help us make the tryouts. He’s the first actual hopeful and for all his help made the main cast. Our original third main cast member had issues in real life [read: a job] and is now going to be a back-up at best. So far we haven’t been able to film that tryout.

That’s all for today. See you next time.

    BWL RoadTrip: A-Kon 23

I considered last year the year of the report. The BWL RoadTrips were about making a better quality report then I had previously. For this year, I really didn’t want to repeat that format. It would get boring and repetitive.

Therefore, I consider this year the year of the experience video. In effect, I am making a video journal of my trip and then editing it down for time.

My trip to A-Kon lasted a full week and this is the story.

BWL Behind the Scenes: 42_Paces’ Tryout

The Wildcat, Syrus, and Tikchi the Ratman play Left 4 Dead 2. We’re joined by 42_Paces for his tryout for the LPU Main Cast.

It is basically a practice with a demo for interested members on how the tryouts work. And we’d like to welcome 42_Paces to the team.

    BWL RoadTrip: QuakeCon 2012

Due to financial limitations – needing a new rig, maybe a new car, bills, etc – I limited myself to two RoadTrips this year.  QuakeCon 2012 was the second and final RoadTrip unless something comes up I have not anticipated.

Once again, I am making a video journal of my trip and then editing it down for time.

My QuakeCon trip was shorter then A-Kon due to low budget.  I stayed at a cheap hotel rather then the Anatole, but that caused few drawbacks for this massive event.

BWL Special: A second First Look at GMTower

There are several points to be made about this video in the description.  See the info below.

This video is not a “good” video.  It has commentary, gameplay, music, etc.  However, due to our many issues, it lacks certain consistency and quality.  However, rather then scrap or re-shoot this, we decided to simply edit this the best we can and have fun with the many bugs.

If you want to skip the beginning Fails, just jump to 4:45 or so.

Try to relax and enjoy.  It’ll be okay.

Thanks to Syrus for working with me during this mess.  Thanks to the players.  And thanks to the developers of GMTower.

The mod can be found at  http://www.gmtower.org

First, we knew about GMTower some time back.  This is a “Second” first look video because we had played before, but this is our first time since the open beta began.

Second, this video is longer then it had to be and has many graphical / editing issues.  This is all actually due to various technical difficulties including: A bad install, an old install that left orphaned files, a lack of information regarding some of these issues, an older PC that is starting to develop issues, an old install of GMod with many other addons, etc.

Long story short, we ran into every kind of bug we could.  Engine errors, game crashes, vent ping in excess of 10000 at one point, you name it.

On top of all else, I have only once been able to view a demo file for Source Recorder with all the correct menus and interactive items.  Further, due to limitations, items such as sprites that aren’t rendered in front of the demo camera are simply not rendered.

I didn’t have space enough to record the entire experience with fraps.  Better still, I was using 4:3 aspect ratio while playing, but I’m trying to release everything in 16:9.  So, the fraps footage is cropped.

All in all, this was a messy, frustrating, yet somewhat humerus experience.  The video will look off.  Just relax and enjoy the show.

    It’s A Spectacle: GMod Tower

On the 29th of September, we organized a small group to play GMTower.  Only three of us were in the vent, but the server was packed during one of it’s peak times.

Thanks to Syrus and AAsama for joining me for this special episode as we tour the most ambitious gamemode mod projects ever created for GMod.

And thanks again to the development team.

I’ve been slowly but surely adding to my LPU graphics.  Obviously, some of the line drawings were shown in my QuakeCon video and of course, the attached to images were posted to my DA account first.  However, I thought it would be fun to share them here too.

Basically, I am making a bunch of simple graphics for LPU.  These include spray logos for use in-game, and derivatives of those images to accompany each player’s “signature” during the video.  Plus other possible uses.

I’ll also be making some chibi / emot type images for a few different uses.

For now, I’ve finished two of the spray graphics and posted 800×600 variants just to look at.  The actual sprays don’t have the LPU logo and are considerably smaller. [256x256]

EDIT: Just to point out, the actual colorized drawings [not the attached graphics but the real pictures] are 2376×2163 and 2689×2402 respectively.  I did that so I can make any and all graphics I may need from them.

    BWL YouTube Trailer

So I finally bit the bullet and switched to the YouTube One Channel Layout. With that, I was encouraged to choose a channel trailer. So… I made one.

It’s basically a nostalgia video for stuff we’ve already made, but it turned out pretty good. A little over three minutes of memories.
