I believe that it’s taking the joke of Ben liking little girls too far in a way that is not appropriate.

I hope you’re implying that such ignorant and hurtful behavior is only funny to a person too ignorant to be able to empathize with human emotion.

If you have to debase yourself to such a level that you think this is funny, and that this is the only way for you to have ‘fun’ then you are unwanted in the community.

I feel really bad for saying this but that is the only thing I see Ben as. I don’t know him, but you know the first impressions and all. At first I genuinely thought that Ben was a pedophile and I think that’s not funny at all. Maybe it’s funny for those who know the joke, but.. Well, I like this new rule anyways.

It makes sense to ban the word rape, since overusing it takes away its meaning and creates the rape culture and all that, but I believe we must also respect the nature of “shock humor” , jokes that are so wrong that become funny, i.e. ben as a pedo , fracism etc. I like that rape jokes are out, but I think, that should be the line. Taking away more would be too much.

I’d like to just state that i hope this is one of the first places all new turbos come. I’m still seeing some complaints about the actions of Turbo Chat. You guys have to remember that we’re permanently embedded into the show. And yes, people actually read us. Please be mindful of the feelings of others.

We need to give a TURBO initiation so that everyone is on ground level about the rules. I know Fraser switched to Turbo only chat for a reason, one of them being spoilers but lately a lot of people have been forgetting that and sharing things they’ll either learn on their own anyway or giving blatant DERPs with the answer or just straight up spoiling.

I like chatting with Fraser and them and I think and hope all Turbos know that we add and take away from the show. People watching also read what we are saying a lot more than the crew does so don’t ruin it for everyone else in hopes that they ‘may’ read your spoiler. Plus if we keep at it i feel like they are just going to start ignoring the chat more and more and then no body wins.

Rant over: Bottom line: Turbos respect turbo rules and don’t blurt out stuff about the game unless they specifically ask. Really isn’t that hard. I’d be totally for having Turbo-ship require reading of rules or something similar. Not trying to be elitist or anything i’d be fine if all turbos had to go read the rules or whatever, i just want to promote people being respectful and not spoiling or saying things that have no bearing on the show at the time or anything.

Ok i’m done i swear. I do love VGA and i appreciate all TURBO members. But sometimes you guys just gotta learn to not blurt out stuff.

I’d like to mention that the word “molest” does not always mean sexual assault. That’s its second definition. Its first definition is “to bother, interfere with, or annoy.”

Not much of an argument, considering the word rape is in the exact same position and this is being enforced anyway.  Examples from various online dictionaries include “To make haste; to hasten or hurry.” and “To seize by force.” for their first listed meaning, making Kshades example of “Like how some people use it as a replacement for “pwn’d” or whatever” somewhat … questionable.  Raping a base in Planetside 2 for example is completely acceptable.

But as usual, the PC crowd want to come in and warp a words meaning in favour of their own sick and twisted interpretations.

 

In this case it’s really no hardship to use “pester” or another synonym in place of a word that overall has a different implied meaning in current culture.

Sure thing.  Let’s just demolish the English language one word at a time, because of a few simpletons who prefer to stay ignorant.
