Or Favorite Video Game Series. I’m surprise this topic hasn’t risen up.

My favorite Video games series is the .hack//gu series.I love the the story it was one those game i wanted to complete 100% cause there was so much to do. My second Favorite is the Disgaea series. I love its humor plus it over the top enemy and art style. I remember playing Disgaea 2 with my character around level 25 and i have to fight Etna who is level 5000 and i actually though i had to beat her.

The series that I can instantaniously answer with has to be Fallout. My new computer has difficulties running the original Fallout (which is… odd) so there isn’t altogether too much I remember of it (and I haven’t put away time for 2 or Tactics in a very long time), but I still haven’t found a gaming experience to match my treks trough the Capital Wasteland in Fallout 3.

Hell, I even loved New Vegas. New Vegas felt like it had much more in common with the first three games. I actually think that Fallout 3 is the best of the series, but I still love the little throwbacks in New Vegas.

I think I’m going to go play Fallout 2 now.

As far as series go I’d have to say Zelda is up there for me. The latest installment, aside from a couple of niggles, was fantastic – better than OoT in my eyes. I didn’t want that game to finish. Debating going back through it again.

Red Dead Redemption was another favourite of mine. I’m a big fan of westerns and Rockstar did a great job with it, again aside from a couple of niggles and some hilarious glitches.

I used to be a big Final Fantasy fan growing up and my picks from the series have got to be VI and IX. Those were the ones I invested most in the characters and their struggles. However I thought that Crisis Core for the PSP was immense. I really liked the battle system and have always loved Zack so when I got to the end I really didn’t want it to end. I remember being in a funk for a week after finishing that. I knew how it would end but it was still tragic.

A couple of other honourable mentions go to Super Smash Bros Melee and Wario Ware for the GC for many great drunken multiplayer sessions!

So aside from just naming favourite games, what makes a good game for you? Is it the story, the characters, the gameplay, or a beautiful mix of everything?

    Favourite games, hm?

Well, SuperFrog has always been my default answer for this. The prime reason for that is probably nostalgia, but it’s a solid game nonetheless.
Play *this song* and my brain will immediately melt back to my childhood. RRRRibbit.

The Ratchet & Clank series (well, I’ve only fully played the original trilogy) has always held a place in my heart also. Played them a lot during my early teens and enjoyed them to the nth degree. At some point I plan to get a PS3 so I can finally play the newer games.

The Gears of War series. Yes. For I am a manly man of manliness. I just love the games, always found them very enjoyable and I find the up-to-11 nature of the games fairly tongue-in-cheek, but also immensely fun.

Fighting Games. Yeah, I’m just dumping a genre here. Mainly Street Fighter, Tekken and Soul Calibur, but there’s been many fighting game loves in my gaming history. Back when I was very, very young I used to play Street Fighter 2 on my Amiga, which I think is where I developed my love of the genre. As I got older, into my early teens, I played a lot of Tekken on the PS2, then during mid to late teens played a lot of Soul Cal, then I got heavily into Street Fighter again just after SSFIV came out. As I said, there’s been a lot of other fighting games that have come and gone during that time and when I say ‘Tekken’ or ‘Soul Cal’ I referring to multiple games in the series.

As an honourable mention, I’m gonna add Red Dead Redemption. Currently in the midst of playing it, nearly at the end. It’ll very probably end up as one of my favourite games ever.

Sticking to series as opposed to individual games I’d say Monkey Island is up there, anything from Tim Schafer really but I’ve sung his praises a few times on here already. Few games come along to offer up as much charm in their writing as Monkey Island did.

I’m a big fan of Silent Hill, 2 being in my top 3 favourite games ever. Sure it’s sucked since 4: The Room, some would argue 3 but I was so into the story of 4 that I still enjoyed it as a whole despite some crippling technical choices. I’ve yet to play Downpour though so that could set it back on track for all I know.

Uncharted has to be one of my favourite series on the PS3, beautiful to look at and play plus some really funny dialogue and great characters.

Going to second badthoughts about Monkey Island. Although I haven’t played the episodic one, the first four were all consistently good. I would have said Mega Man at one point; but with all the ancillary titles and all that Battle Network stuff, as a whole the franchise has suffered in my eyes.

As far as individual games go, I’ve often said Final Fantasy Tactics; but the more I think about it, the more I am inclined to say Suikoden II. It was one of the first games to make me invest heavily in the story and actually care about the characters. The original did as well, to an extent; but not to the level that the second installment did. On top of that, it brings me back to really the only era of JRPGs that I can stand playing anymore. (Nothing against the SNES ones, which were great; but I just can’t sit down and go through them anymore.)

My favorite game of all time is most likely shadow of the colossus on the PS2.

I love WWE video games, WWE Here Comes the pain, is hands down my favorite of the series. It makes me sad that WWE games no longer have story more where any wrestler can be the main character, you actually got to make choices in the storyline, plus its the last WWE game before the John Cena era of WWE.

Also Zelda I, II, and A Link to the Past. Zelda II, it was the first Zelda game I ever played and out of the 5 Zelda games I’ve ever attempted to play, I’ve only liked 3 and Zelda II was my favorite. I may not have gotten into other Zelda games but I still love the first three enough.

I don’t know how I forgot Saints Row 2, other than NES games I don’t think there is any game that I’ve replayed more than this. The only negative I have to say about this game is that it might have set the bar too high for me because I played GTA IV for the first time a couple of months after I got SR2, and I didn’t really enjoy it that much and part of me wonders if I would’ve enjoyed it more had I not played SR2 first.

My favorite series by far has to be infamous
I would even argue their two of the greatest games ever. 1′s story characters and combat was fantastic and then 2 came out and set a bran new bar for games. It easily has the best story a game has ever had in a while, the combat and exploration was amazing, and the characters are the cherry on the top. Zeeke is easily the best character I have seen in a video game ever, oh and cole is pretty cool as well.

Second would have to be Disgaea. The humor alone makes all of those games for me( even with some BAD pins and cliches)

    Doctor Freeeeeeeeman.
The Half Life series! SO GOOD

I’d also say the Battlefield series cause they are excellent games and I really enjoyed them when I was younger.

I also recently discovered Tribes Ascend and it almost immediately became one of my most favorite games.

Now for the game I’ve played over 800 hours, Team Fortress 2! A multiplayer that raised the bar of how multiplayer should work.

Next, is the only reason I bought an Xbox Halo!

Finally, the game that made my childhood, the game that needs a sequel, the game made by the masters of RTS, Relic, and the game my email is based off…
IMPOSSIBLE CREATURES!!! This game was AMAZING you could make your OWN UNITS! It was so Fucking COOL! This was the game that got me into RTS and its AMAZING!!! So good my dad would even play it! all of you NEED to buy this game!!!

My favourite series would have to be Xenosaga. I spent a whole summer on those 3 games and it was my greatest gaming experience by far. Rich story with awesome characters, excellent music, and great fighting system. Lots of people remember Xenogears and love it more but this series is my personal favourite.

    I love Pokemon.

If I had to make a comparison, Pokemon would be the chicken soup of my gaming soul. Sure, it may not the fanciest, most complex dish ever, but it’s something I know will warm me up with fuzzy feelings that can not be replicated. I grew up with the series – it’s something I can rely on.

What I love most about Pokemon would have to be the experience of raising your Pokemon and taking on the world. You start out fresh in some podunk town with your very first Pokemon and embark on this journey in this strange land. You encounter many exotic kinds of Pokemon and get to surround yourself with a team of your very own. As your Pokemon fight for you and gain experience, you mature with them, and by the end, you and your bros are strong enough to face whatever challenge you face, be it an evil organization or the elite four. No other game I’ve played has given me this experience I cherish so much. It’s this feeling that I hold close to my heart and what this series delivers excellently, which is why Pokemon is my favorite video game series now and forever.

Hmmmm favourite series.. Sonic the Hedgehog with Crash Bandicoot as a close 2nd. Spyro was pretty badass back in the day as well but a little too easy to be my favourite. Legend of Dragoon is by far my favourite RPG and I think the Batman series is looking pretty good too. I can only imagine what … Arkham World (lol yeah right) will be like? And of course you can’t go wrong with any pokemon game!
