While having played all the ps3/psp creed games, I am not sure Farsher is going to get into them if he didn’t really get any enjoyment at all from the first installment. The dynamics are revamped and ac2 is superior in every respect to the first game, but the core appeal of climbing and looking out over vistas remains the same. On top of that, the sci fi plot and story gets even more over the top…hopefully he will prefer ac2 enough to keep going but dunno
July 2, 2012 at 6:30 pm #40606Fraser certainly enjoys the vistas, as for climbing I’m sure he’ll eventually get used to it. I remember climbing being much easier in AC2 because they set up lots of crates and scaffolds to allow you to free run from street level to rooftop easily. Then there’s the elevators in Brotherhood, and so on.
July 2, 2012 at 6:32 pm #40607Oh don’t get me wrong, Fraser failing at times was his fault, but the sequels have little-to-no bs. The sequels can be frustrating, but it is fair and fun not boring and mindless and stupidly repeditive for no reason. While it took me longer and somewhat more subdued, that was my reaction to…I believe the last trip to Acre. The area with the water and stuff, that was painful. And to force someone to continue playing the first game instead of getting to the games where worthwhile stuff happens and dares to be consistently fun would be cruel and unusual punishment.

July 2, 2012 at 6:46 pm #40613I’m with Fraser on that playing through AC1 isn’t worth it, he can count on us to inform in on details they world like to know in the fiction and story. Also I just finished AC1 and the later levels will make it harder on Fraser if he played it. Story is good but it not worth it when you can hardly get through the stupidly repetitive tasks. Good that he’ll move straight on to AC2.
July 2, 2012 at 8:15 pm #40623Wait wait. I stop watching the stream, not because the show was bad ( I was actually enjoying the frage) but because I really do just hate AC1 it’s long tedious and boring.
So did they quit the game and if so are they going straight to AC2? Please somebody just let me know what happened. ThanksJuly 2, 2012 at 8:54 pm #40627licopter:

July 3, 2012 at 12:25 am #40630As long as the crew’s made aware of what happens to Altair at the end of the game, that’s all that really matters.
Also, on the point of there being more weapons, well… I dunno if that’s a point in favor of making it easier for Fraser himself, since he seems like the kind of guy who prefers to, y’know, mash buttons with one reliable weapon to fight rather than timing and countering and exploring with different weapons and figuring out where to use what when. Then again, maybe with the particular weapons in AC2, he’ll experiment more (and actually figure out/know how to use them instead of one or a couple of wrong people misinforming him and being forced to do it incorrectly until he notices the correct answers).
July 3, 2012 at 1:20 am #40634And Fraser goes into AC2 hoping for less travel time, less tower climbing, MLG Batman combat, faster climb speed and a cameo from Marston. Uh oh……
July 3, 2012 at 5:22 am #40642When I heard that VGA was going to do Assassin’s Creed I had mixed feelings. If they skip to Assassin’s creed 2 like many people were asking they would get the wrong impression about the writing. In assassin’s creed 1 the writers spent a lot of time on showing the duality of the Templars and Assassins, showing the philosophies of both parties and comparing them. In assassin’s creed 2 having established the complex morality of the Templars the story moves one to showcase the main downside of their philosophy, in short it attracts the power hungry, the greedy, and the egotistical. without the previous game to back it up it comes across as a simple “Templar bad! You assassin! Go Kill!” Storyline and newcomers would have a hard time understanding why people like the story so much.
On the other hand the gameplay in assassin’s creed 1 is tedious and laborious.
For a time I was organizing a series of Youtube links showing only the assassinations and the story associated with the them. I was planning to submit this list and a suggestion to Frasier simply : Play the first assassination on the show off the good/bad qualities of the gameplay as a whole. then watch the assassinations/story bits to cover the real meat of the game. bing bang boom. Assassin’s creed 1 in about 2 hours. Most fans appeased, got the complex plot summarized without cutting out the meat, and moving on the much better gameplay of AC2.
Unfortunately before I was able to make the list life got in the way and this project was sidetracked. Then Frasier announced he was going to play assassin’s creed 1 first. Mixed feelings abound. but then he says he will beeline it to the assassinations. That made me happy. skipping any quest to tedious to watch cuts the play time down considerably. Unfortunately yesterday Frasier’s completionist nature got the better of him. attempting to replay a boring and annoying mission over and over overwhelmed him and he quit. Completely understandable. I only hope that this won’t cause him to completely throw AC1 out the window.
It’s a long shot but if Fraiser is willing I could finish the youtube links list and send it to him within a day. High quality assassinations and quick story bits. In one live episode; he, Ben, and Becky could watch the videos and comment on them, allowing AC1′s complex but interesting look at the differing Ideologies of Assassin’s creed a chance to engage them. They would go into assassin’s creed 2 with a understanding of why people like AC1 despite its tedious gameplay, but circumvent the gameplay itself.
I think Frasier would enjoy this story. His reactions to the statements of the Doctor and the Slaver’s clear belief that they were doing the right thing indicated that he was intrigued and this perspective is what is highlighted in AC1 but lost in AC2.
July 3, 2012 at 5:25 am #40643Do it braindevil. If anything, others watching the show will have the benefit of info if Fraser doesn’t watch it.
July 3, 2012 at 5:26 am #40644I just realized I misspelled Fraser’s Over and over again. I apologize.

I just realized I misspelled Fraser’s Over and over again. I apologize.Yeah. It’s spelled Farshar. :b
PS: Seriously some of you turbos, come on. ‘Snarf the answer is X or Y’ or ‘Snarf the answer is X…I think.’ really? That’s the kind of thing that makes people say turbo chat is no better than shadow chat. I get trying to help; but if you don’t know the answer you don’t have to say anything.

July 4, 2012 at 7:22 am #40811I’m only part-way into Assassin’s Creed II, and I have to say they improved everything in that game. More weapons, faster climbing, he can swim (which really pissed me off about Altaïr), less repetitiveness, and more focus on the story just to name a few. Also quick travel points (which Fraser will appreciate SO hard). It was good for Fraser to at least play as far as he did in 1, because now he can really enjoy himself in the sequel.

…That would be perfect in my opinion. Don’t forget to include the part with Maria Thorpe.
Will you include the present day story as well or just the Altair story.
