I’m not experienced in editing at all. But i’d like to try my hand at it, so, does anybody know of good editing programs? I think VGA would be a great way for people wanting to try their hand at editing, to start.

People keep recommending Lightworks for Windows, since it’s free and has a lot of features. If you’re on Linux, install kdenlive.

I’m thinking of joining the editing project, but the one major thing that’s stopping me is downloading the videos themselves. I know of a website called clip.dj that let’s you download youtube videos, but I can’t seem to get it to download in HD. Apprently there’s a way to have youtube videos default to 1080p by adding something to the url? I think it used to be something like &fmt=37 but that doesn’t work anymore.

Google Chrome Browser, Youtube downloader plugin. 1080p mp4 downloads. (and the files are 1/3rd the size of the original video, BONUS)

If you’re trying to download videos from blip and use FireFox I suggest Video DownloadHelper from the Mozilla Add-ons website.

I would recommend Realplayer, its a cool Windows media player-like program that also lets you download videos and convert them to either sound or keep them as a video. http://www.real.com/
