Guild Wars 2

My Pre purchase arrived on monday, really looking forward to it. I hope you can accommodate an MMO newby, i know how to play and I’ve played a couple before i’m just not massively skilled. a VGA guild would be cool. I’m pretty set on being a Charr but i can’t decide what class to be.

Don’t worry, Guild Wars 2 is not like those other MMOs. If you’ve played any cooperative online game (even from another genre) you’ll do fine. But for the short time that this beta is available I suggest the warrior profession. It looks pretty straightforward compared to the other, more complex classes.

As for the VGA Guilds, we should definitely have two. You can freely join many guilds and choose one that you wish to represent at the moment. Let’s just be sure we don’t make, like, ten guilds with silly names and only several members. We have time until the official release so get on with figuring out great names y’all. ^-^d

I’m looking forward to the Beta weekend.

As far as the guilds go, I think a few should do it, as long as we can keep track of them really. Don’t want to spread ourselves too thin. At least we may have to distinguish between PVP, PVE, serious and more casual play. People could move between them depending on what they want to do at any given time.

It looks like it’s going to be only one server for this beta.

Anyway, I say we hang out somewhere when we’re available and want to play with someone. By somewhere I mean some chat, or something >_>. Like the twitch chat, the VGA chat or in either Steam group chat.

You can usually find me in the VGA chat – just mention my nickname and I’ll probably respond if I’m not in a game. If I am in a game try messaging me on Steam.

As far as guilds go, I think we should need one core VGA/AVG guild to bring the community together. + some silly guilds so we could do some PvP with each other.

Hmmm, so the question becomes, what region and what worlds do we wish to be in. At least I’m assuming I can change between EU and US, although choosing one will like cause connection problems for some people. I usually do pretty ok changing over to a US server.

So with the “guesting” feature it doesn’t matter (for the PvE part) which server we choose. I’ll be choosing the EU server Jade Sea (‘cuz I like pirates :3).

Thanks, I was Considering Warrior for it’s simplicity so looks like that’s what I’ll be. I use a Razor Naga Hex so I might try out some other classes with hot keying as i get better. I hope I don’t drag everyone down too much but I’m sure I can handle ‘hit enemy until they die’.

World vs World looks like great fun. If we really get some tactics going i can see it being pretty addictive.

About 6 hours to go. I’ll be a Charr Engineer named Lex Shadowshot on the EU Jade Sea server. I’ll be doing PvE mostly and probably be recording it too. If you happen to see me just whistle. You know how to whistle, don’t you? Just type /me whistles.

Are we arranging anything for the beta or just doing our own things? I might just spend tonight learning the basics. We can get a bit more organised when the full game is released and we all know what we’re doing.

Arg a name, I hate coming up with character names. I spend all that time making them look good and have no idea what to call them.

I’d be up for something a bit more organized on Sunday. In the mean time I’m going to muck about and figure things out. I’m thinking Guardian or Necromancer.

Oh, and don’t worry lights I’m not exactly a seasoned player myself.

Guesting is not running during the Beta :\ I fear plans are ruined.
In the mean time my characters name is Vinnleigh. At least the friends list is working and we can communicate in the game.

Oh, there is free transfer though :D
Actually, I keep reading but I’m getting more confused as to how this works. Apparently if a server is full you get put into an overflow server, but there’s multipal of them and you can’t chose which you end up in.

They’ve kicked us off for an update so i’m taking a break. I’m on the ring of fire EU server, only picked it because it sounded cool and i knew we got a free transfer if needed.

Only played with my Charr warrior so far. His name is Mars Helios. Had a play around unlocking the skills for each weapon. so far my setup is Axe in main hand with my weapon change set to switch my off hand between a sword because i can stack bleeding and a Mace because i get a ranged attack and can break Armour with that. Can’t say i liked the shield at all. If we do World V World then i can switch the sword out for my Warhorn so i get to buff people.

During one of my story missions i suddenly started dying really quickly, took me a few minutes to realize all my Armour had broken and i was fighting in my undies :D

Going to try out the other races and classes. Probably elementalist and something else i haven’t decided.
