Hi folks. You may not have noticed me in the Olympic build site. That is because I’m working on the site for the ‘torch lighting’ for the games in Historia. I’ve discussed it with Silent and so I want to explain what I need from all of you (or as many of you as possible).
First, during the show, Fraser will be in historia during the actual lighting. I’ll need 4 people to play ‘virginal pristess’ (Basically, a toga skin. Preferably, I’d like to get EnterMuen in on this.)
I’ll be triggering a flame charge which will light up a fence post and then I’ll run holding an actual torch to the portal. At this point fraser will queue up the video I’ll be describing below so that he can be tped to the arena for the start of the games.
This video will require A LOT of group participation. It’s going to start with showing me arriving at a community and tossing the torch to someone from that community’s team, who will briefly run along a road in that community with as many people from the community in the background in their regular skin to simulate the running of the torch. Each shot is going to be 10/20 seconds at most depending on the community, and we’re only doing to communities that have a team in the show. Hermits, we won’t be able to do us, I’ll leave it to you. We can work you guys in the crowds for other communities or we can do you in some random spot, like in a crevice or next to a dirt shack in the woods, or something. Anyone not on a team, let us know and we’ll work you into the crowds.
Also, if you’d like to be in the video but can’t actually be there for shooting, let us know and we’ll have someone not in the scene use your skin and basically act as a body double. This will be limited to who’s available and you’ll need to upload a copy of your skin here.
We need to shoot all of this by Tuesday at the latest. So, I need the communities/teams to come together and decide when to shoot the video in your community, who will be your torch bearer and where in the community they will be shot. These shots should only act as subtle teaser for your community, not a showcase of it. We’re trying to just give them a small taste to kind of tease the server tour, not show everything. They also need to be long and fairly straight as the camera guy will need to strafe beside the torch bearer for the shot.
Finally, for editing we’ll be going in order of which community posts here. The first community will show me ‘tossing’ the torch to their runner, and then the rest of the hand offs will bee a ‘fade to’ the next community running, and so on. The last group will run to their community’s portal where they will toss their torch at the camera man in front of the olympic portal, to keep it secret who the final torch bearer will be.
In my opinion though, and I nominate Silentwindofdoom for this role of taking it into the final arena, who hands it to Kshade who lights the torch, since Silent is the one that has been running this build and Kshade deserves a bit of honor too for keeping the server running. Any objections to that?
