I’ve been wondering if Kingdom Hearts would be right for the show a lot lately.
I first got KH1 when I was 13 and it had first come out and loved it since I loved the final fantasy games and Disney but now as a 23 year old I wonder if I would still have liked it if I had bought now. I just feel as though the fans of Kingdom Hearts are people who bought it when they were young or are people who are young right now. This may just be my experience but I think that if they started now when their in their “late 20s?” would they still appreciate it as much as fans do or would it just be a troll fest.May 17, 2012 at 10:58 am #31144Troll fest
I don’t think many RPGs would be right for the show due to a common element: grinding.
May 17, 2012 at 11:22 am #31147They were given a copy at PAX, but I have a feeling it would go the same route as Sonic Generations. Fraser hates JRPGs and the premise is already incredibly goofy. That doesn’t mean it would be a bad show if they could come up with plenty of jokes, though. I could see the opening sequence turning out like the Datura episode.

Kingdom Hearts doesn’t have any grinding, so that won’t be much of a problem. Honestly, there are basically no RPGs where you actually need to grind, and Kingdom Hearts is certainly not one of those games.
It could be a pretty good series though, the gameplay is very friendly to the show and it’s just the right kind of cheesy to make fun for it to be easily made fun of. What more can be asked for?
May 17, 2012 at 11:52 am #31152There’s really only grinding in KH if you wanna try and beat extra bosses and get cool weapons. I think it would be interesting to see fraser play it. He’ll make fun of the story to no end (and probably the music), but I want to see how he reacts to the gameplay.

incredibly goofy.i c wut u did thar
May 17, 2012 at 12:28 pm #31156I imagine it could work, I’ve only ever seen it played but fans of the game will probably have to ready themselves for some real savaging of the series, funny savaging though of course. I’m fairly sure Fraser has mocked KH in the past.
May 17, 2012 at 12:35 pm #31158I don’t really like the KH games, reasons including the boring button mashing combat and the annoying characters (not the disney ones), but I think it would make for an entertaining show. But like badthoughts already said, the fans of the series should prepare for a trolling massacre. There’s just too much to make fun of.
May 17, 2012 at 2:03 pm #31188It’d be fine for one show. Maybe not a long haul. They might not like the game, but it’ll make a good episode.
May 17, 2012 at 3:28 pm #31202Oh yeah, there’s no way they’re taking on the bonus bosses. Hell, my brother, who’s a Kingdom Hearts fiend, said “fuck this” and just finished the game. DAMN YOU JAPAN AND YOUR INSANE DIFFICULTY CURVES!
Also, I expect star fox jokes during the gummi ship segments.
May 17, 2012 at 5:09 pm #31220i love kingdom hearts i was about 14 when it come out and me my sister and best mate played it all summer but i dont think it will work the game hasent aged well in my opinion also im sick and tired of fan boys who cant take a joke and there will be plenty of them if they play the game.
May 17, 2012 at 7:45 pm #31229i played KH when i was in high school, i thought the game was amazing with elements form both Disney and FF. honestly i think fraser and the team could definitely have a good time with this, not to mention there were a few times i laughed when something one of the characters did was stupid or funny.
May 17, 2012 at 8:37 pm #31247From what I seen in previous episodes, they seem to know Disney stuff and enjoy some of it. The first game could work for the show. Sure, Fraser might troll about it a bit, but I think it’s fair game because it involves Disney characters so it’s bound to be cheesy. There’s no real grinding involved to get the basics done and… ugh… they could go Easy mode if Fraser wants and just play the secret video on YouTube after.
The ONLY thing I know that might be a drag is the Gummy Ship sections until they get the warp drive.
May 18, 2012 at 10:52 am #31302The substantial amount of dialogue would probably make it a no-go. I could easily see Fraser getting impatient with the cut scenes, which if I recall you’re not able to skip in KH1; even if you die and have already watched it.
May 18, 2012 at 12:43 pm #31332ya they could easily play it the only thing i don’t think they would like would be the cut scenes since they can be very Japanese slice of life with lots of just friends talking and stuff like that but if he could dredge through those which he will probably do by trolling he could get through the games just fine.
May 18, 2012 at 1:10 pm #31342Im pretty sure you can skip cutscenes if you hit start theres an option for it. I enjoyed KH, one of the few RPG’s i would actually do everything in to get Ultima weapon and stuff like that and the sephiroth fight is one of the most intense fights i have ever done without Ultima weapon i might add. I’d love to see it on the show but idk if Fraser would like it enough to keep going the intro is slow and i dont think it will appeal to him.
