Jak & Daxter

Hey there, fellow members!

I was sitting here, marveling over the awesomeness that is VGA, and came up with a suggestion I thought I might try out! The Jak and Daxter series – specifically, the released HD collection for the PS3. It has all the games bundled together, so, why not give it a go? Seems like the style of game play would be fun to watch, and nice for the show.

I’m sure the tone shift between Jak 1 & Jak 2 would give Fraser whiplash. Which could be funny.

Mmmmmmmmeh. Jak & Daxter is just a big collect-a-thon. Don’t think it’ll be much fun on the show.

Yeah I agree with the firs tone being a bit of an uninteresting to watch collectathon.

Unsure about Jak 2 though, it may unleash the Frage a bit too much. I know I get controller breakingly mad when I play it…

This is one of my favorite video game series ever and I’ve been wanting to see it on the show for a while. I agree that the first game isn’t the best fit for the show, and it might be better to skip it and get into Jak II. Fraser might not want to do that though. If he would be open to it, it would be good if someone would make a video summary of the plot of Jak and Daxter so they could watch it and know what’s going on. I think they would like the games a lot, they’re funny and fun with interesting stories and great characters.

Hmm, after reading through everyone’s comments, I do agree that the first game might be a bit lengthy to watch. Though I do think that Fraser and the gang would enjoy the second and third games.

I like Space Monkey’s suggestion for making a video summary of the first game, but I dunno how that would work out for the show itself. Still, it would be nice to see them cover at least the second and third games, maybe even just the second game.

The only way I could think of doing the video summary would be on the first episode of Jak II, right before they play it. Watch the summary, then play Jak II. They would really only need to see the beginning and ending of the game, because all the stuff in between isn’t really relevant to the sequels. Just the characters, setting/universe, Eco, and circumstances that set up the beginning of Jak II. That way, it wouldn’t take long and they could get into Jak II quickly but with fresh knowledge of the important stuff, and I think that would be better than a long haul of Precursor Legacy.

Now that I think about it, I do remember a handful of missions in Jak 2 that I thought were unfairly sucky. Given Fraser’s lack of patience, giving him a save file so he can skip over that mission (mission select’s a lot better than in AC) would help.

Played the first one, and I liked it. Pretty slow paced game though, so they might need to prepare something to talk about, and they should definitely concentrate on getting to the end rather than getting 100%.

They should play all those similar styled games like Sly Cooper, and some Ratchet and Clanks along with Jak.
