Hello and welcome to the 36th Mod Report! This time we’re made of chocolate!*
Olympics
We apologize to anyone inconvenienced by this, but in order to present a more professional looking build challenge we needed a bit longer to plan it, and Ben was going to be going on vacation, as well. The build challenge is now scheduled for some time during the week of the 13th-20th of August, although again, this is tentative.
1.3!
As always happens when a new update is released for Minecraft, we advise you to not update Minecraft until we announce that we have updated the server. Either don’t update, or just keep a backup of the .jar file.
Farms
We seem to be having a problem with people harvesting others’ farms, but not replanting. Again, this is against our rules, so please, just replant. There are less stupid reasons to get yelled at by us.
Iron Golems in Hub
ISo would like to remind you that “Whoever killed the iron golems in hub shall meet Justice.” I would like to take the time out to remind everyone that you should just refrain from killing anything in the Hub.
Team Talk in Team Fortress 2
We are planning on occasionally activating Team Talk only mode on the server, allowing those of you who enjoy the more competitive aspects of the game to strategize and not worry about being overheard. This will only be occasional, as it may not please some.
New Map!
We are adding a new map, cp_gothic! As usual, we will be playing this map a bit more often than a usual map, just to hear your opinions about it. As always, go here for more information.
Forum Changes
You may have noticed a few changes over the week to the site, the main one being that, for a bit, the forums were completely unreadable. We apologize for this, we had to update and a few things changed when we did that. Another important thing that changed is that your YouTube embeds will no longer work on the forums. However, sometimes it will embed a video if you write the link to the video(It’s a bit temperamental some times.).
Quote/Video of the Week
We’ve only got 2 quotes this week, both relating to Martin, and I have no idea why.
First, we now know what Martin’s friends do when he loses a bet:
Martin: “15 episodes of MLP…
kshade: “Why would you do that Mellis?”
Martin: “Because I lost a bet kshade. It burns the eyes. I feel my life slipping.”
And second, we get some more stats about ISo!
Martin: “Iso weilds dual hammers of ban and has +4 charisma”And now, Videos of the Week! Keeping with the number two, we have two videos this week! The first one is just a great song/video, but the second would make our own EnterMEUN proud.

August 6, 2012 at 2:55 am #46595A note about the Iron Golems in the hub: There’s a nice group of them stuck at the bottom of the ocean. Iron golems are unable to step upward if they are submerged completely underwater. To get them out, you need to place slabs or stairs underwater then shove them up and out. While I don’t know if all of the Iron Golems are like this, it at least accounts for some of them (some are pretty damn deep too).
Edit: I just swam around hub. There are 33 completely submerged, but still alive, Iron Golems visible (and 2 on a beach, not yet underwater, so 35 total). There may be even more in the caves underneath hub, as some seem to have collected via water flow into underwater cave entrances. So good news is they aren’t dead! Bad news is they need to be rescued….

August 8, 2012 at 9:02 pm #46965Put iron bars or fence around Hub Island. That should solve the problem with disappearing golems.
August 9, 2012 at 7:21 pm #47055the golems were actually killed. We noticed because the ones around the tower, in the moat, are gone. they have no way of leaving the moat so it’s pretty clear they were killed off.
