Hello and welcome to the 40th Mod Report! It’s PAX week, so there’s really not much to talk about, but I’ve still gotta at least tell you that, so here we are again!

Halloween Build Challenge

Well, we’re not starting yet. But, we are quite close to announcing it officially (I guess, technically, this could be considered an official announcement, but you know what I mean.), so we figured we’d give you a little hint of what’s to come! It’s going to be another week long build, but think big. Turbo-Tastically big. And, from ISo: “And we’re denying everything in the Halloween Suggestion thread that’s already up.”

Quotes/Videos of the Week

Well, despite much actual work getting done in Mod Chat this week, we still managed to find the time to goof right the hell off, so we’ve got plenty of Quotes of the Week!
First, from Chris, we have a line that needs no introduction: “I never thought in my life I’d be googling Drunken Robot Pornography” (It’s a game, Chris says)
Then, from ISo, something that bears repeating, even if the answer is yes: “Did we already say in a mod report that when the zombie apocalypse happens we’ll be the best zombies? I feel like we did.”
We also have another Casual quote! “bah. I shall never be queen of switzerland. The Kaiser of the Holy Roman Empire is too much of a tyrannical dickcheese”
And finally, kshade gets jelly about PAX Australia but no PAX Europe: “I bet they think we all speak Europeanese and are too dumb to lern us enlgish or something.”

And now to the Videos of the Week! We’ve got 3 this week, because I couldn’t pick just two. First, the best voice over ever. Second, we have a new video from the guy who made the best cover of “My Heart Will Go On”! And finally, a song that really makes more sense if you watch these live.

I’m also curious of how we are getting a week? i would understand that for the trick or treat. But I’ll keep my mouth mostly shut in case this is the first planned timeframe.

Last year a month was barely enough to finish the build. How are we gonna make it this year with only one week?

@khroal If people start discussing ideas on the forums beforehand, then other people can steal them, get them approved and someone will be very angry. Keeping discussions off the forums until the official thread is up and instead handle it on Skype or a Google document is probably the best way to go about it. This has been adressed by the mods on multiple occasions in the past.

a week is way too short for a build. the last 2 we had about 3 weeks to a month to get everything done on time and some people still had to rush.

Also, the ban of the ideas for the halloween build sucks because it takes away a ton of ideas for builds that people had agreed to work together on. but it will avoid the “you stole my idea you jerk” thing

ISo’s thing was a joke, I’ve been told. As for the week-long part, I know I was the first to bring it up (most peoples’ reactions will be the same, I think), but we should probably just wait and see when the topic goes up.  We may be worrying over nothing, given ISo’s post.

Don’t worry, I highly doubt it will end up staying a week long anyway. I recall our previous four builds have all started out as week long and got extended to weeks and months. It’ll be fine.
