Hello, I was wondering about the policy on long-abandoned, unfinished builds. Now, I know that generally we keep builds preserved even if their owners haven’t been on in a while, but I’m talking about land that’s barely been developed, or communities that have never gotten off the ground. I’m like 900 blocks outside of spawn city, so there’s quite a few abandoned homes and unfinished buildings close to where I live. There’s also a huge fenced in area built by Afromaster, but almost nothing within that space and it’s been there for at least 6 months unchanged. There’s also Smalltown USA, which is nothing more than a shack, and masses_fallacy hasn’t been on in 6 months. I’m considering expanding, but what can I do about these places?
August 14, 2012 at 2:04 pm #47844Just do like I did with the Abandoned Builds in The Boondocks: Slap a sign reading “<Insert Build Name Here> Historic Site NO BUILDS ALLOWED” and then just walk away and promote it as a Tourist Attraction. Done.
August 14, 2012 at 2:21 pm #47849that is a pretty question. I think builds/communities that have not developed should be taken down because they take up good building space. Same goes for members that have been banned from the server. As for builds that have been abandoned but are complete, they should stay intact.
August 14, 2012 at 3:04 pm #47856I can’t exactly promote an unfinished wooden shack as an historic site.
August 14, 2012 at 4:02 pm #47875but you CAN make up a tale about how the owner was viciously murdered and is rumored to haunt it…
August 14, 2012 at 4:04 pm #47878the shack just burnt down…right? wink wink
August 16, 2012 at 10:56 am #48240I definitely think the complexity of the build and time abandoned should be taken into account. Care should also be taken to see if that simple wooden shack or cobblebox has an elaborate underground build beneath it.
If there’s anything there that looks like it took any real effort to build, it shouldn’t be taken down. Something like this on the other hand… http://mca.tabesugi.net/#loc=-3180,-2890;zoom=10 I’m not sure it should be considered sacred ground if it’s still sitting there unchanged in 5 months.
August 22, 2012 at 9:00 pm #49273Yeah, I learned the hard way that I was too lax in letting people stay in my area and reporting them to mods. Because of a few people that built in historia’s modern area (they new it was there because they used my portal to get there) not only can I not build up to their build, I’ve lost 200 blocks of territory. Considering they built 300 blocks away from stone henge, this pretty much means that I have enough room for one or two modern builds and that’s it. So, it looks like historia will be finishable because people built on my land and I didn’t tell them to leave like I should have.
August 22, 2012 at 9:26 pm #49277Idk for me in Tortuga there have been a few things that were done half-assed and then left there. I usually take it down after a while when they haven’t logged on and put the materials in a chest and save them.
August 24, 2012 at 9:51 am #49507Trust me when I say I feel your pain, Lucky. Never again.
August 24, 2012 at 10:07 am #49509@Luckysimon I think it is not fair that people build stuff and just leave which screws over big time anyone that is active in the community. They need to be notified about that and it should be taken down.

August 24, 2012 at 5:01 pm #49573Well I did get a response form the mods saying that unless I can contact the people those builds belong to, there’s really not much I can do about it. Which seems especially frustrating since I can’t even find the accounts on some of these people.
Also Weckar brings up a good point; a way to troll with complete impunity is to just spam the entire landscape and leave for months on end.
August 24, 2012 at 5:41 pm #49584Actually, in fairneess to them, I did send Ulfgar a message and he’s fine with me doing my builds arround his, so historia’s modern quarter will continue unimpeded.
September 9, 2012 at 5:19 am #51988Talking about “long abandoned”, I haven’t seen any guys from the Gerudo Community around, (I use thier portal to get to my home) and I am not sure if any of those are still active.
