The specific exploit that brings this up is the high-five glitch, which leaves your character in the high-five pose during game-play. The enemy can’t see what you’re doing (for instance; not being able to see when a Huntsman sniper is pulling back on the bow, or when a heavy is eating), giving you the advantage, and we punish for anything giving you an unfair advantage. We will kick you from the server if we see it, if for no other reason that to fix it. It IS an exploit and we do not allow them.
Initiating a high-five while “Waiting for Players” will activate the glitch. There’s also a chance of it happening at the very, very end of the match (just before the score comes up, I *think*). So… don’t do it then. That’s all you have to do to not activate it.
Another thing to note: DO NOT give people show passwords if they ask. Tell them to go to the forum like you did. We put up new passwords to make sure people read the rules. Even if they’ve been on the server since the start, they need to read the new rules for shows. Do not assume they know, do not assume you’ll remember to tell them all the rules.
Also: People who continually rejoin the server during shows without regard to show rules, will find themselves banned during shows. All shows. Stop it.
If you know someone who plays on the server and doesn’t frequent the forums, let them know. This is the place to read server news.
July 26, 2012 at 12:38 pm #45060To be honest that glitch was starting to annoy me. It’s fine during the fool around times(or at least to me) but in a real game it does make it a lot harder to know which move they are going to pull off.
BTW, for anyone who noticed I joined the show twice yesterday..mcmuffin said those who joined before can rejoin..as the server was kind of empty at the time.
July 26, 2012 at 1:18 pm #45062thank your for posting this sir isophist that glitch has been creeping me out for a while and it just seems odd
July 26, 2012 at 1:53 pm #45065T-H-A-N-K Y-O-U for that new rule
I hate the high five glitch. The worst high five glitch combo is with the heavy. One does not know where they are aiming and when they are getting uber changed since the uber charge skin does not appear.
I think those who are trying to get on a second time seem to be people who only play when a tf2 live show is going on.
July 26, 2012 at 2:13 pm #45069I sometimes get stuck in the high five because i am waiting for someone to high five me after the round ends and when i notice that I’m stuck, I will reconnect so it goes back to normal.
I do hope when I don’t notice I get notified of it before being kicked, so I get the chance to fix it myself and not immediately get kicked. I don’t want to feel like an exploiter or something :)
July 26, 2012 at 5:47 pm #45085You can tell if your stuck in high-five right?
I high-five all the time at the end of the round, I haven’t got the glitch yet.
Do you just keep holing until you spawn? I usually let go if were frozen and noone is around to high-five me.July 26, 2012 at 6:03 pm #45087gukingofheart:

I don’t think there’s a way to tell if it happens to yourself, just need to rely on others telling you, which they usually do.
July 26, 2012 at 7:39 pm #45092Oh, so that’s why I got kicked. I thought I just played too long at the time.
I wish someone would of told me at the least.
I was allowed back in later due to slowness so I can’t really complain.edit: I wonder if any of the other taunts can do this.

July 26, 2012 at 10:52 pm #45116edit: I wonder if any of the other taunts can do this.
Technically yes, other taunts can and often do have this effect, a common example is when a Pholgistinator Pyro is taunting to activate the Kritz, if the Pyro is “moved” (airblasted, explosive blasted etc) from the Phlogs point of view you return to first person and cnotinue playing normally, but to the rest of the players the Philg Pyro finishes the taunt animation cycle.
The difference with the high five being the taunt has a static frame, (hand in the air,) if the player gets interrupted during the static frame the animation cycle stops, and never ends, causing the player to be permanently stuck with hand in the air.
<NERD!!!!
=^-^=July 26, 2012 at 11:23 pm #45121The high five glitch occurs whenever a round starts, basically.
Let’s a say a new game starts, and there’s this “Waiting for players” period. If you hold the high five position until it’s over, you will be stuck in it.
Or if a round on the map is over and the next round is about to start. Like, let’s say, your team won and you decide to stand in the high five position. If you keep holding it until the next round, you will be stuck in it too. There’s also an unsure way of telling you’re stuck in it, but it requires you to do the high five thing again, although I do believe you can just taunt, sometimes you will see it like that too.
Basically what you do is – you use a taunt, it should work normally until the very end, when you snap to 1st person view after you’re done, you might notice your character going in high five at the last second.
Or if you use the high five, and someone high fives you – when both of the character’s hands slap, you snap into the high five position instead of having the actual animation.
That’s how you should be able to tell if you’re stuck in it.-

July 26, 2012 at 11:29 pm #45123I wonder if there’s any way to fix the glitch without rejoining the server.
surprised doing the high-five again doesn’t fix or high-fiving someone.July 27, 2012 at 1:07 am #45142quite an unruly bunch!
July 27, 2012 at 1:54 am #45144I think the quickest fix to the hi-five glitch is to type into the console: retry
July 27, 2012 at 12:58 pm #45212What Phill said. There is no other way to fix it than to rejoin, so type retry in the console when someone tells you they’re glitched – this will cause you to rejoin without giving up your slot and getting back in as fast as possible.

T-H-A-N-K Y-O-U for that new ruleIt’s not really a new rule, using bugs that give you an advantage was a rule from the start.
