Listening to Fraser being curious about the game during the E3 chat make me want him and the gang to see what Dark Souls is like. I say let them try it once to see how the game is.
June 4, 2012 at 2:13 pm #35206Definitely want to see him go for it. Even if he gets frustrated and ragequits.
June 4, 2012 at 7:51 pm #35277I don’t think it would be a good game for the show. I just finished it recently (amazing game), and it would have way too much repetition for the show, constant dying and doing the same spots dozens of times. I think it would end up with Fraser just getting bored and moving onto another game, instead of rage.

June 5, 2012 at 1:59 am #35390Which would not be any less funny :D
I think he should try it for one show, maybe also have a backup planned for the evening, and make it very clear from the beginning that it is just a look at the game, not necessarily the start of a new complete playthrough.

June 5, 2012 at 2:02 am #35392what’s the story like in dark souls? i haven’t played this yet (waiting for PC release) but from the few videos I have seen of it, it seems to be just a string of boss fights. would get kinda boring, or possibly really frustrating on the difficulty level. i enjoy the shows where there is less hold ups to take tactical advice from the chat.

There are boss fights at the end or sometimes in the middle of an stage. A stage is broken up into several different sections divided by bonfires which act as checkpoints for the player.
So basically a stage can be considered getting from one bonfire to the next.
June 5, 2012 at 4:38 am #35414I dont think its a good idea for them to play it. Dont get me wrong, I love Dark Souls, but it is a game thta requires an insane ammount of trial and error to get the behavior and telegraphs of the bosses right if your playing solo. I would say IF they play it he should try to summon people as often as he can, because that basically breaks the game and makes it Super Fraser Mode. Thats my biggest gripe with the game, the bad PvE Multiplayer balance, but i think it would benefit Frasers nerves.
June 5, 2012 at 6:09 am #35430Maybe try it for a VGL. Not entirely sure on how he would react to it.

June 6, 2012 at 6:40 am #35631Here’s few thing about Dark Souls.
People say it is hard game. Those people are morons…
Dark Souls isnt hard, it is challenging. Idiots just think it is hard, becuase it works like old games.
You get killed if you:
- run around like headless chiken with ADHD
- are tired
- are in hurry
- try to beamline it *looks at Frazer*People also say it has no story, these people are even more idiots than people above.
Dark Souls has amazing, deep and sad story. Dark Souls just have really different way to tell it.
Instead cutscenes and forced dialogs, the player has to work for the story.
There is few NPC who you can chat with, but they wont tell you whole life story like in common RPG, instead they tell you their version of things and most likely lie to you.
Player is kind of archeologist. Every item has small flavor text in it, and player has to form the story from those texts in their head. Story leaves a lot of plank spots to fill with your own imagination and toughts. If you dont care about the story, Dark Souls dosent force you to follow it after opening cinematic.
Sorry for my bad english.

It would be best if you refrained from referring to people of differing opinions as morons and idiots. You’re welcome to your opinion but just say you disagree rather than insulting others.
June 6, 2012 at 10:02 am #35678If they do, I very much recommend Fraser does not go into it blind. How some things work can be a bit of a mystery even when you read all the in game stuff but along with that, past the tutorial area, it can be very easy to go the wrong way. Damn you graveyard, although I did get something nice for my troubles it was frustrating to find out the wright way was not the most visible side path. And the whole games kind of like that. It’s great by yourself but he has a show to consider and him failing and not really making any progress only stay cool for so long.
June 6, 2012 at 10:14 am #35682Dark Souls is crazy difficult and there will be lots of dying. Also, lots of running through the same areas after dying. I can’t see Fraser liking it because of those things, but I could be wrong.
June 6, 2012 at 12:16 pm #35715I say no. He already has so many games to get to that are better for the show.
