O hai there! Been a while since you’ve seen me, right?
Sorry I haven’t been on the server lately, I’m on holiday in some place called “Hollywood”, nothing interesting there though. Just a bunch of stars… that don’t play TF2…
Anyway, I’ve been able to access the internet from the hotel (It’s only 24 hours. Boo!) and I’ve been catching up on some news. Then the TF2 update came…
Holy crap does it look awesome….
Since I can’t play TF2 at the moment (Well I can, but trust me. YOU DON’T!), I was just wondering what Turbos thought of the new weapons so far. Do you have a favourite one? And when the new map comes, is it a good one?
Just wondering that’s all. Well I have to start getting ready to go to “San Francisco” tomorrow, whatever that is…
Can’t wait to play with you guys and gals again! :D Miss you lots! (Even when you all start chasing me…)

August 3, 2012 at 5:44 pm #46318While I’m no judge on some of the new weapons, I can say that the new sapper is severely broken. It can reverse a building’s levels while sapping. However it does not adjust the building’s max health, and it only adds max health when said building is re-upgraded, and you can make a sentry with 3000+ health with a little coordination between a patient engy and an asshole Spy. People don’t/shouldn’t use it out of common courtesy until it’s fixed. Plus using a regular sapper on a building that has been sapped by the new weapon crashes servers.

August 4, 2012 at 12:47 am #46361The Red Tape Receiver has been patched and does as intended. Fairly quick patch to boot. Anyways, my thoughts since a lot of weapons have been patched today.
The Huo Long Heatmaker: I do need a couple more days to really pass judgement on this thing, but basically it’s a bit of an anti-spy measure at the cost of a lot of ammo. I’m thinking this weapon may be a bit OP at the moment, but again I need to play with it some more before I can actually put opinion into it. It does run out of ammo really quickly after today’s patch, but standing near a dispenser or cart seems to bypass that. It does light others on fire, which I like.
The Neon Annihilator: Why is the Pyro getting all of these underpowered weapons lately? The Scorch Shot is nice, but it’s not the most impressive thing. He only got reskins of the axe and flamethrower, and now this new melee weapon. It looks awesome, but you need to either be near water, or have somebody throw mad milk and/or jarate onto somebody to get that axtinguisher style kill. It’s gimmicky as all hell, and I think there should be a flamethrower that actually makes people wet like that one I keep seeing in the steam workshop.
The Flying Guillotine: From what I’ve seen, it’s like Mad Milk that damages people it hits, and inflicts bleeding. I haven’t really seen anybody kill somebody with it just yet, but if used with the sandman’s stun, it gets a guaranteed crit. So it seems like a very good combo weapon.
The Red Tape Transceiver: Really interesting weapon as what it does is downgrade buildings until they revert back into toolboxes that can be picked up. I do like that they’ve included a new way to sap buildings, but this thing will not damage them. It is good for making an engineer spend metal on getting things back to level and for making a troublesome level 3 a level 2.
August 4, 2012 at 7:57 am #46379The Flying Guillotine is probably my favourite Scout secondary. Managing to get a long range crit kill with it is incredibly satisfying. Also, it recharges a lot faster than any other single use item (6 seconds).
Haven’t had a chance to play since the latest patch but the downgrade time for the recorder has increased from 1.6 seconds to 3 seconds. I was on the fence about using it before, though now I’m not so sure.
Best thing about the Neon Annihilator is that it works for 5 seconds after leaving water and also in shallow water (i.e the sewers of 2fort and all the bottom of the middle of Moonshine). Situational, yes, though covers a huge weakness of the Pyro. Now you can chase Spies and such even when they escape to extinguish themselves.
The Huo Long Heatmaker… is a good counter for Spies that don’t know how to jump. As far as I can tell, the flames have a really small vertical range, so Spies can still attack from above.
