Many of you may have already seen this: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap120312.html
But it’s really, really damn good.
And a brilliant time waster, which you might actually learn a thing or two from.

Also, for the Block placing folk among us, there’s a nice little addition sitting beside Neptune. ^^

Seeing as 3 days ago it would have been Douglas Adams birthday, I feel I should also add this:
“Space is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist’s, but that’s just peanuts to space.”

Hey, thanks for posting this and yes, yes that was an awesome addition to the solar system. ;)

Ok last edit but also nice Adams reference. Erm it’s pretty clear I love his work <.< (looks at her own screename).

Pretty fun. Although not quite the best thing I’ve seen for getting across the shear scale of things. The most interactive of them I’ve seen though.

@darkgryphon42 Thought there might be some Adams fans around here. ^^ H2G2 is almost certainly my favourite book series.

@proudplatypus yeah, there’s some that do get across how big/small things are bit a little better, but I’ve never seen one quite so full with little extras – additions like the total human hight are great; we’re 7x taller than the sun, which make you realise how many of us there are, then you zoom out and find that’d only get 1/15th of the way from the earth to sun.
On the small size – jeez transistor gates are small. :p

Good Lord I love this! When you said it was a brilliant time waster, damn were you right! Although in some cases, it may not be an actual “waste’ of time if you learn something from it. This thing is a lot of fun. I think I need to play with it again.
