Let’s be honest everyone can never agree what a hardcore game is.
Some people will say Pikmin is a hardcore game, others will say Assassin’s Creed is a hardcore game.
But seriously what do you think a hardcore game is?
June 6, 2012 at 7:42 am #35641Dood!, Pikmin is so Strategy hardcore!, those people are crazy!
June 6, 2012 at 7:49 am #35644I kinda think hardcore is something that describes gamers rather than games. Just about anything can be played to a hardcore level but it’s hard to label any game as hardcore when they can pretty much all be picked up and enjoyed to some degree by anyone.
June 6, 2012 at 8:00 am #35648Anything that takes a longer time investment before being faces with a good opportunity to put it down/save and quite, and longer time period before reaching a satisfying pay off. Casual games being much more pick up and put down and giving the opportunity for the player to feel satisfied with a short play session.

June 6, 2012 at 8:06 am #35650Most games are both casual and hardcore
June 6, 2012 at 8:11 am #35651It all depends on how much brown and grey they have.
June 6, 2012 at 8:31 am #35652Most hard core games can be filed under the “Does not use/have a heavy focus on motion controls” label.
June 6, 2012 at 9:02 am #35658A hardcore game is something silly people argue about.
June 6, 2012 at 11:35 am #35697It’s when one or more of the actors take plenty of di… Oh, wait, wrong version of hardcore, sorry.
A hardcore game is any game you play wearing one of these
Or failing that, one of theseJune 6, 2012 at 12:10 pm #35713pokemans
June 6, 2012 at 12:25 pm #35717Any game that requires effort and interest to beat, and also had actual thought and work put into it’s design. Anything can be a hardcore game, even games made to teach first graders can be. As long as the game has an appeal, offers a challenge, and presents an experience memorable and personal to the person, it’s hardcore.

June 6, 2012 at 2:04 pm #35740it’s a buzzword people use to make their game seem superior to others

Sure as long as it reaches all of the qualifications I said
>has appeal
Check(depending on age)
>Offers a challenge
Half-Check(only for Fraser)
>Presents an experience memorable and personal to the person who is playing

I would add that it’s important that it be designed to be played for extended periods. That’s one of the many issues with motion controls, you can only tolerate to flail your arms around for a couple of hours before you have to put it down. That isn’t hardcore to me.
