I’m a long time fan of VGA, but first time poster. :) Couldn’t find any recent topics about this (but if there are, please tell me so I don’t look like too much of an ass), so I just figured I’d ask, since I love how much smaller the world feels when I know I’m chatting with people all over the world, haha~
As for myself, I’m from Maine, that state that sits in the corner of the USA and is ignored by all the other kids. :) And you?
July 21, 2012 at 6:16 am #44169Hey, Rizu!
Congrats on your first post, with quite an interesting idea for a thread.I’m from Glasgow, Scotland- “The Chicago of the UK”, according to some. Still not sure how that statement is supposed to be taken, having never been to the Chicago of the USA.
Compliment, or insult? YOU MAKE THE CALL! D:

Depends on what they mean by it. It could mean that it’s a blue collar town, like Chicago. Or that it’s really windy there. Or maybe that you have really good deep dish pizza. As far as cities go though, Chicago is one of the more popular ones I’d say. It’s not like New York or LA which a lot of people dislike.

July 21, 2012 at 8:26 am #44186I’m from Alberta, in a smallish city just outside of Edmonton, the murder/traffic accident/sexism/racism capital of Canada, as well as the most ridiculously conservative province of all (still not as conservative as most of the U.S. though). YAY! Being a socialist atheist humanitarian, I just love it here.

Well, upon looking into it a bit more ibunwest, it seems that it’s all down to the aesthetics of the city: the architecture, and the fact they’re both river-straddling cities make them both very similar. We’re also not as popular as our capital, Edinburgh, but a close second-favorite with tourists. :P
