Well I got this name because…Every other cool/unique name was taken
March 8, 2012 at 11:55 am #18287(I swear I wrote on here before, but i can’t find my post…)
My internet allias “Salmir Aeon” came about from 2 separate things.
Back when I was in my pre-teens, my friend and I would design maps for stories we would plan to write (we never wrote them). I was trying to come up with a name for one of the cities on an island. Looking around my friend’s room, i started combining words together, one of them being “Sal-mir”. A year later, I would use this name for my first WoW character (before Burning Crusade) a human mage.Fast forwarding, I began exploring more of the MMO world. Specifically the F2P MMORPGs. This of course led me to the 3D Avatar Based Social Network Client, Second Life. (I don’t call it a game cause there’s nothing gamey about it) and in the early days of SL, you had to pick a last name. After several tries of names, i saw one of the surnames being “Aeon” and I said to myself “That word sounds familiar…” and picking it, a few months realising that I remember the word from Final Fantasy X
and that children was how the Earth was made…
March 8, 2012 at 7:16 pm #18357My original username ‘Intelligamer’ came from an AVGN episode called ‘Double Vision’ in which he reviewed the Inteli-vision and the Coleco-Vison. So I put Inteli and Gamer together for some reason and bam!
Then my current one ‘NightmareIris’ has a simple origin. The nightmare part comes from ‘Nightmare’ of Soul Calibur (He’s my favorite character) and the fact of me liking twisted things. The Iris part comes from me having an obsession with the Human eye and it also came from me liking the colour Purple (The Iris flower is purple) and the name also came from Megaman from the character with the name Iris. and so thats how ‘NightmareIris’ came to be. and why I refer to myself as the ‘Eye of Chaos’ sometimes.
A bit vague but, there ya go :)
March 15, 2012 at 9:37 pm #19589my name I think is fairly obvious haha i am an army wife, husband is in the army and wiffy is not pronounced wifey lol its wif-fi lol i dont care how you say it i just get alot of questions about how to pronounce it hahaha :P
March 15, 2012 at 10:48 pm #19599My name was the combined effort of my two best friends coming up with something easy to call me by.
I had a username on another forum once upon a time, it was Coeus. One friend thought it was dumb and didn’t know how to pronounce it, so they both decided on Freddie Bert. Freddie was taken from Freddie Mercury, and I cannot even remember where Bert came from, it may have just been the first thing that popped into their head. Needless to say, it stuck and I’ve continued using it, turns out that it’s never taken on any site. :P
March 16, 2012 at 8:13 pm #19730Alright.
I play a LOT of Xbox Live, and I get asked this question ALL THE TIME.
EvilFerret55
I owned a Ferret. He was Evil (like, Ninja Status Evil. The little bastard would get in the fridge. I still, to this day, I’ve no idea how he did it.)
He sat on my left shoulder while I did my homework, and would always have a treat of some kind in his paws, nibbling on it. Always had to wipe crumbs off my Homework when I was in HighSchool.
But, continuing.
We’ve got the EvilFerret, Now for the 55.
Its not some random addition of numbers to be ‘a cool kid’ like most people (especially on XBL: Example: Joey92372374)
I owned a Ferret. He was Evil. He died on Cinco De Mayo.
The Fifth of May.
55.

March 17, 2012 at 9:05 am #19784My username on this (and Minecraft) comes from my random choosing of a username for a Mario Kart forum when I was 13. My steam username (when it is Oreo) comes from some guy I chatted with during my xat era; my usernames didn’t really come from anywhere special. I really prefer the origin of my avatar, which I use in most places. It comes from, by far, one of the greatest games ever made.

March 18, 2012 at 7:21 pm #20036I came up with this name a while ago, and I’ve been using it as my username for things ever since. It comes from the fact that I’ve played the piano since I was 6 and when it comes to practicing…you’re kind of a slave to the instrument :D

March 20, 2012 at 1:53 pm #20374Dundore77 – My last name and my football number back when i played (original and cool to the maxxx)
steam id (Dead_assclown) – Some random name generator thing i found back when i decided to make a steam account thought it was funny then now its a oh god why sorta thingMarch 20, 2012 at 3:18 pm #20384i completely blanked on a user name for a forum i was joining a few years back, so i put in uummm..nocoolnames.
- SlaughterC13, my gaming tag was my favorite of a myriad of different names i used to use on AvP2 multiplayer servers, I shortened it from SlaughterChild, because I was like 12 when I started playing AvP2. Now I’m 22, and having child in my tag doesn’t seem appropriate anymore. And I throw 13 in because its unlucky, and hardly anyone uses it when they register new accounts.
March 21, 2012 at 8:08 pm #20619After watching a Bill and Ted movie and having to listen their superlatives for an hour and a half, I started saying “radical!”, “extreme!”, and other words like that. The next day, one of my friends asked for my favorite color. I said “radical red!”.
My last name is Araujo (Ah-rah-ho). Well, my football coach can’t quite pronounce that. So he’d call me “rojo” (ro-ho) instead. And “rojo” is “red” in Spanish. So i combined the two, and BAM.

March 24, 2012 at 10:00 pm #21159I’ve had a fixation with bacon for most of my life. 2 years ago I bought my Xbox 360 and decided I wanted my gamertag to have bacon in the title only to discover all of them were taken. After awhile I noticed one of the suggestions was “EdibleMessiah”, I thought it was genios so I used it.
And if you don’t like it, you can eat me :D
March 24, 2012 at 11:16 pm #21164Because I do a lot of writing, I have to come up with names a lot for characters. One day I was trying to give a last name for a character named Alexander and his daughter, Sandra. At the time, I was looking to names from Final Fantasy Tactics for inspiration, and in particular I was looking at the character Delita Heiral (Or Hyral, as it was spelt in the original translation – http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Delita_Heiral). I wanted to come up with a name that had a slight reference to this. At the same time, I was sitting outdoors under a canopy while it was raining. When I considered the story for the two characters, the idea of “rain” seemed appropriate (Rain is usually seen as a depressing thing, but it’s also seen as a cleansing thing) for them. However, Hyrain seemed lacking to me. I was trying to come up with another syllable to follow “Hy” and I just started doing a bad hiss (“thhhh”). It sorted clicked in my head and I tried it out as a whole: hyth(high-th)-rain.
A couple years later, I’d be making a twitter account and decided I wanted to break away from the online alias I used and get something a bit more unique and simpler. Using Hythrain, from those two characters, was the best fit.
