Lately Ive been having problems with my computer dropping wifi connection a lot. In fact it’s been so bad that I haven’t been able to connect to the Internet in hours. I know it’s not my router because I can access it just fine from other devices. I had a screencap of what diagnostics says, but I can’t post it until I get wifi back, which can happen at any random time. I think the problem might be my computer, but I was wondering if there might be a possibility I’m overlooking?

I’m typing this on my phone so I can’t go too muh into detail until I get hold of another computer, that way I might also include the screencap.

If it’s fine on other devices, then yeah, it’ll be a problem with your computer.

Yes that was one of the first things I tried. The problem is that it disconnects and reconnects at seemingly random intervals. Not even rebooting the router does anything.

My computer is getting up there in age, but I don’t want to replace it just yet. This is the first time anything like this had happened. At least, not since I replaced the router last year.

The fact that it sometimes connects but other times doesn’t is what’s confusing me. I’d come up with ideas for reason for it never connecting :p

Some more experienced tech nerd is welcome to swing in now and fling out actual help ^^

Only thing I can say is, did you do anything with the computer soon before this started happening? Changing setting, installing files, hitting it with a hammer, etc.

    … HELPFUL! :D

    EDIT:
    Similar problems were had here:

bob magnani apparently solves his problem (Bottom of page)

From an electronics standpoint, random network connection implies loose circuit connection. If it were that, notifications should be popping up due to the multiple reconnections, though.

So after roughly 24 hours, my wifi fixed itself. Inexplicably. Again. However, this time I got images from the network diagnostics.

    Oh, it’s a Mac?
There was a problem with the Lion OS and Wifi connectivity apparently.

152 pages of it, in fact. :p
So if your OS is Lion, then that might be why.

… Macs definitely ain’t my forte, so I hope the answer for your problem is in that thread. ^^

ok, if my wifi crashes again I’ll try using the tips from that thread. Thanks, I’m just glad this is a software issue and not hardware.
