    According to the leaked document, apparently an internal company presentation circulated in 2010, the Xbox 720 would:
    * Have a Blu-ray drive
    * Have various hardware options including SSD, HDD, Wifi, Wimax, etc.
    * Be 6 to 8 times more powerful than the 360
    * Have 360 compatibility
    * Incorporate “Kinect 2″
    * Have full native 3D support
    * Be accompanied by the 2014 release of “Kinect Glasses”
    Be priced at $299, for release in 2013
    Sell 100 million units

    The document’s provenance and authenticity is of course unknown, but the fact that the original 56-page PDF file it came as was taken down only hours after it went up at the request of a legal firm with ties to Microsoft may be telling.

    However, as the document dates from 2010, even should it be authentic it is possible significant changes could have been made to their plans in the interim.

    Microsoft itself has not so far publicly released any meaningful information about its plans for an Xbox successor console.

    None of this sounds very likely, but so long as I can play Halo Reach on it I’m happy.

    does anyone actually regularly game in 3D? Personally I get a headache from active glasses and the IMAX system is the only one I have no problems with. Sky streaming + Sky unlimited broadband (in the UK) would be very interesting to those who cannot get a satellite dish in place.

    Interesting that they predict a 10 year life span. The current generation is 6-7 years old, so they expect another 3 years for the next generation.

    Hmm interesting, if any of this has any truth to it…
    Blu-ray, DVD and CD, is good, and they’re clearly focusing on apps and websites (Very Microsoft)
    And the picture of Smartphone/Tablet is very like Smartglass that they talked about at E3, Not sure about those weird wired glasses, VR or similar seems like a big risk.
    Not sure about these aesthetics, it seems unlikely that they would release such a basic-looking brick, thing looks like a £20 DVD player.

    Finally $299 seems like the right launch price, especcially if Kinect is optional and there is a cheaper version without. It being truly next-gen, it can justify that price without the costs being so ridiculous that it’s dead in the water for the first 2 years of its lifetime like the $599 PS3 launch price.

    I get headaches from the 3DS if i have the 3D on for more then 5 minutes.

    If those specs are indeed factual then this system looks good for games. I agree it does look like a cheap DVD player. But at least it functions like a $300 DVD player -_-’.

    Why do I highly doubt this will be released at $300? It just seems very unlikely it will sell that low.

    The part that struck me as most suspect was the inclusion of a blu-ray player; why would sony give its technology to a competing platform? Unless there was some kind of deal going on, which I highly doubt, this sounds like bull honkey.

    Theres a big thread on Neogaf discussing all this and some people have said theres some truth to this leak, but I haven’t read through too much of it. Although some things have probably changed considering it’s from 2010.
    Personally I think it’s fake but you never know. A lot of things that were leaked on gaf about the Wii U before E3 ended up being true…

    Thats because we leaked a large amount of stuff to Neogaf amongst other places…
    As for the specs someof what is listed above is pretty fake. Specs run rampant and change rapidly, as they are merely specs. However… i have seen specs from earlier this year and a few bits are similiar however this is a large number of items on the specs above that match nothing like i have seen. The device has a different name, different internal and shorter span life slightly, and the core architecture is way off from what is above. There is also a couple aspects that will make it rather unique and next gen from its core on up.

    Are you saying that things like Rayman legends (which had been heavily hinted at before that video leak a while back, including it’s exclusivity to Wii U), ZombiU, Analogue Sticks instead of Circle pad, 2 Gamepads useable at the same time, plus many more things were all leaked on purpose on GAF? That’d be pretty interesting if so…

    And as for these Xbox documents, reading into it more actually leads me to believe that this document is real, but that a number of things have changed about it since 2010, which is expected. This was probably just one of many ideas they had for a new console. So I wouldn’t say that these are fake, just that as you said, they were merely specs and they change rapidly.
    Also Microsoft took legal action and had this document removed very quickly, which also lends some truth to this leak.

    Companies leak information all the time. It gets people excited, whets their appetite. Or at the very least, gets people talking. I mean look here, even though most of us agree this is probably all/mostly/partially fake, there’s still a thread and a conversation going on about it.

    Just sounds too powerful and too much tech to work with to price it anywhere near $30, more like $600. Plus, this is a Microsoft console, if their press conference is any indication then they see playing games as an unnecessary distraction on game consoles. I expect the game portion to be cut to reduce costs.

    reason microsoft took legal action is because some of those specs are very true and they do not want that out there. Thats why. Yes we have leaked certain things (restricted on saying what, sorry, but ask me sometime in chat and i tell you a few) to websites, and other things… rayman was leaked… ;) supposedly by a marketer or tester right? :) Its common practice. But from what ive heard and seen (what little there is), this document is not true but was mostly fudged however, who made it had information and what their next console will contain. so yes the latest specs ive heard and read briefly contain some of the above. Again specs are specs.
